1. Outline
FANUC MODBUS/TCP function supports MODBUS Server function (Client is not
supported), and is applied to FANUC Series 16i/18i/21i-B with PMC -SB7/SD7. (In future
step, it will be supported for Series 30i/31i/32i-A, too.)
2. MODBUS addressing model
FANUC MODBUS/TCP function assigns PMC address to “Holding registers” of
MODBUS data model by parameter.
- Available PMC address: R, E, D ( for PMC -SB7) and %M, %ME, %R (for PMC -SD7)
- Up to three continuous PMC areas can be assigned to “Holding registers” by parameter
at the same time.
- “Discretes input”, “Coils” or “Input Registers” are not used.
3. Function codes
The following function codes are supported.
- Read Multiple Registers(03)
- Write Multiple Registers(16)
- Read/Write Registers(23)
Note that even %M or %ME of PMC -SD7 is accessed in 16-bit word unit through “Holding
registers” model.
4. Parameters
The following parameters are configured by a user.
Communication-related parameters
- Local IP address
- Subnet mask
- Gateway address
- MODBUS port number
Allocation-related parameters
- PMC address, Holding registers address, Size (first)
- PMC address, Holding registers address, Size (second)
- PMC address, Holding registers address, Size (third)
Three tables which assign “PMC address” to "Holding registers address", are prepared.
[PMC address]:
R,E,D of PMC -SB7, %R of PMC -SD7. The address should be inputted in an even
address boundary.
%M and %ME of PMC -SD7. The address should be inputted in 16-bit address
boundary.
[Holding registers address]: 0 to 65535
[Size]: 16-bit word size unit.
In addition, Modbus/TCP server function becomes available by CNC option parameter.
