1.1 TOOL LIFE MANAGEMENT FUNCTION
Tools are classified into several groups, and a tool life (use count or use duration) is
specified for each group in advance. Each time a tool is used, its life is counted, and when
the tool life expires, a new tool that is sequenced next within the same group is selected
automatically. With this function, the tool life can be managed while machining is being
performed continuously. Data for tool life management consists of tool group numbers,
tool life values, tool numbers, and codes specifying a tool offset value. These data items
are registered in the CNC.
