This report describes some recommendations about power ON/OFF of FANUC PANEL i for Automotive with I/O
Link.
1. Applicable system
This information is applied to the following PANEL i for Automotive.

2. Recommendations about power ON/OFF
2.1. Power sequence
FANUC PANEL i for Automotive with I/O Link works as a slave device of I/O Link.
So, the power of this PANEL i must be simultaneously turned ON and OFF when the I/O Link master device
(the CNC controller, sell controller or etc.) is turned ON and OFF.
(Please refer to connection manual of the CNC controller about permitted time lag. Example in case of Series
16i is described at next page.)
If this power ON/OFF sequence is not kept, some errors may occur in the CNC controller or sell controller or
I/O Link adapter integrated in this PANEL i may not be recognized correctly from the I/O Link master device.
2.2. Power OFF of PANEL i
1) This PANEL i have following specifications at power OFF.
OS in the market such as Windows 2000 must be done the shut down operation before turned OFF. If
the shut down operation is not performed properly, there is no guarantee for the proper work after that.
At worst, there are some possibilities that the HDD is destroyed and cannot be recognized by BIOS or
OS.
So the shut down operation must be performed properly before power is turned OFF.
2) To observe above specifications, following countermeasures are necessary to the machine tool system
using this PANEL i.
1. Use UPS
To observe above specifications from power failure or power interrupt, we recommend to use the
UPS that supports shut down output signals.
2. Shut down operation by application software in the Personal Computer
We recommend to do shut down operation by the software attached to the UPS.
Please refer to next page for details (example in case of Series 16i).
