Addition of the warm up function in FANUC LASER C series
1.Outline
We will report the newly addition of the warm up function in FANUC LASER C series.
The warm up function detects the temperature in the laser oscillator when the laser
oscillator is started. And this function is executed the warm up of the laser oscillator when
the temperature of the laser oscillator is too low. The output power decreases, and the
alarm as the protection operation is generated in the state of the low temperature of the
laser oscillator. So the laser can be safely started up by warming up the laser oscillator
beforehand. However, this function is supplementary of the warm up function of the
processing machine side. Therefore, this function might not be able to warm up the laser
oscillator, when the laser oscillator is extremely cold. First of all, control the temperature of
cooling water to a proper value by the warm up function or antifreeze function of the chiller.
Prevention of freezing only of antifreeze cannot be recommended, because the water
temperature and the temperature of the oscillator might decrease extremely. Prevention
of freezing by an automatic driving of the pump of the chiller or the use of the warm-up
function is recommended.
2. Action of warm up function
When the temperature in the laser oscillator is 20℃ or less in start-up of the laser,
warming up starts. The warm up function executes inner discharge two times or less. And
the laser power calibration is done after warm up. The alarm No.4124(OVER COOL) is
generated, when the temperature of the laser oscillator does not reach 20℃ after warm
up. This alarm is cleared by reset. The warm up is interrupted in case of HV-OFF or the
RUN-OFF. The operation time and the laser command power of warm up are decided in a
parameter of the power calibration.
3.Change point according to warm up function addition
1) Addition of low temperature sensor
The laser oscillator newly equips with the low temperature sensor to detect the state
of low temperature of laser.
2) Change of cable
The cable for the signal of the low temperature sensor is added.
3) Change of PCB (relay PCB-B) for sensor signal processing
The signal the low temperature sensor is added to PCB(relay PCB-B).
4) Change of CNC software

Note) The laser will malfunction when the software versions is old, or sets the
parameter by mistake. Please renew software, and set the parameter to a
correct value.
