2.2 Function
(1) Outline
When the external power control trigger signal (EPC) is "1", the CNC, provided that it
can undergo the external power control, accepts this signal and is set EXTERNAL
POWER CONTROL MODE. In this mode, the feedback power control is disabled and so
is the monitoring of the alarms described later. Now the introduction of the external signal
in the form of pulse train coupled with BEAM ON Command from the CNC produces the
pulsed laser output power. In this mode the pulse output by means of programming is not
available because the CNC sends the pulse duty 0% command to the laser oscillator.
(2)
When the EPC signal is "0", the external power control mode becomes off and the CNC
will be operated in the normal mode in which pulse command by programming is also
possible.
In the use of this EPC function, never fail to provide the on/off control to the external
signal as well as to the external power control mode. The former can be performed by
means of the external power control mode signal (EPM).
The system parameter, named "DLS", is availed to disable Laser Setting as well as Gas
Flow setting screens. And the parameter also is availed to disable the pulse frequency (Fr)
and the pulse duty (Du) in the Laser Power screen.
Note that the screen disable function is not effective when G10 is commanded to set the
parameter "DLS" while target screen is displayed. As a rule, set the parameter "DLS" by
MDI operation to activate this function.

(2) Limiting conditions
The external power control mode can be operated under the following conditions .
(a) Disabled function
Feedback control of laser output power (automatically disabled)
(b) Disabled alarms
* Anomalous power decrease alarm
* Anomalous beam reflection alarm
* Discharge voltage decrease alarm
(2)
(c) In the external power control mode, the CNC sends the pulse duty 0 % command to
the laser oscillator irrespective of the kind of output power and, therefore, the pulse
command cannot be used. The following functions, which are combined with the
pulse operation, are disabled.
