3.1.3 Backup Procedure using Ghost Cast Server
3.1.3.1 Back-up: Settings on Server-side
To perform a backup of a disk of a client computer, the client has to be started up with the Network
Boot diskette or the USB memory stick. In case of Floppy disk boot, a Floppy Drive Unit must be
mounted. If this has not been delivered within the controls package, a third party device from the
market can be connected temporarily. That applies also to the Panel i for Automotive, when no the
optional FDD/CD-ROM Unit (A08B-0084-J020) has been ordered.
In the test, a Floppy Unit from Matsushita has been temporarily mounted at the standard 12.1”
Panel i.. This drive unit has been taken from a no-name desktop computer.
For testing the Backup procedure with the Panel i for Automotive, the optional FDD/CD-ROM Unit
has been used. The procedure for both Industrial PCs is the same.
In case of USB memory boot, additional drive units are dispensable.
On the Server-side the GhostCast Server program has to be started. The screen shots below
show the settings on the Server-side:
