1. METHOD OF REPLACING BATTERY
817
When the battery voltage falls, APC alarms 306 to 308 are displayed on
the screen. When APC alarm 307 is displayed, replace the battery as soon
as possible. In general, the battery should be replaced within one or two
weeks of the alarm first appearing. This, however, depends on the number
of pulse coders being used.
If the battery voltage drops any further, the current positions for the pulse
coders will be lost. Turning on the power to the control unit in this state
results in APC alarm 300 (reference position return request alarm) being
issued. Return the tool to the reference position after replacing the battery.
So, FANUC recommends replacing the battery every year concerning
without the alarm occurring.
The battery for the built–in absolute pulse coder is connected with the
servo amplifier.
Note that the attachment methods of the battery and ordering
specifications of battery are different from SERVO AMPLIFIER a series
(SVM) to SERVO AMPLIFIER b series.
Replace the battery only while the power to the servo unit is on. If the
battery is replaced while the power is off, all of the absolute position
settings will be lost.
Replacement procedure is as follows.
1. Turn the servo unit (machine) on.
2. Place the machine in the emergency stop state.
3. Confirm that the servo motors are not active.
4. In case of SERVO AMPLIFIER a series, confirm that the LED that
indicates DC link charging status is not light.
5. Remove the battery and replace the battery.
6. The replacement is complete. Turn the servo unit (machine) off.
WARNING
D The power magnetic cabinet in which the servo units are
mounted has a high–voltage section. Don’t touch this
section that presents a severe risk of the electric shock.
D In case of SERVO AMPLIFIER a series, replace the battery
after confirm that the LED that indicates DC link charging
status is not light. Charged DC link has a high–voltage.
D Ensure that the replacement battery is of the correct type.
Otherwise, heat, explosion or ignition will occur. Always use
the specified battery.
D Pay careful attention to the polarity of the battery. Fault
polarity may be the cause of heat, explosion or ignition.
Also, it may be the cause of lost of the absolute position in
the pulse coder.
D Attach the socket to unused connector of CX5X or CX5Y.
These sockets that protect the connectors are attached to
these connectors in shipping from FANUC. If connector pins
of CX5X or CX5Y will short, heat, explosion or ignition will
occur. Also, it may be the cause of lost of the absolute
position in the pulse coder.
