2.4 GROUNDING A MOTOR
Built-in spindle motors require frame grounding. Be sure to apply
frame grounding for the motors.
The following shows an example of a CE marking correspondence.
Crimp terminal
Be sure to use an O-type
crimp terminal.
No Y-type (split end type)
crimp terminal can be used.
Lock washer
Use a lock washer in addition
to an ordinary washer.
Grounded section
On a part on which there is direct continuity
with the stator core. If the section is in an
exposed position (may easily be touched
by a person or may be splashed with water
or oil
a terminal box is re
uired.
Type and thickness of ground wire
Select a wire with a thickness which allows the
maximum motor current. When a fluonlex wire is
used, its thickness may be the same as the motor
cable thickness. (When the thickness varies, use a
wire with the thickness of the thickest section.)
The wire must be striped with green and yellow.
Washer
Mounting hole
through-hole may be used. In this
case, a measure such as a rubber
cap or packing is required to prevent
forei
n matters from enterin
.

WARNING
Be sure to ground the motor, referencing the above
instructions, to prevent shock hazards and
malfunctions.
NOTE
1 If a motor is not grounded, a motor failure or
malfunction may occur.
2 The motor is not supplied with ground wire and
related parts. Prepare them, referencing the
maximum current listed in "1. SPECIFICATIONS" in
"I. SPECIFICATIONS."
