Basic SPINDLE Tuning using SERVO GUIDE
2. Tuning of Velocity loop gain
Velocity loop gain tuning should be performed at first.
This chapter explains the parameters to be tuned and its tuning procedure.
2.1. Tuning parameters for each operation mode
(Series 16i/18i/21i, 0i)
There are five operation modes in spindle control: velocity control mode, orientation mode, servo
mode (rigid tapping and spindle positioning), spindle synchronization mode, and Cs contouring mode.
Generally, it is not necessary to tune velocity loop gain on velocity control mode and orientation mode,
but if you want higher response and higher rigidity, you should tune the velocity control gain
parameters.
When you use servo mode, spindle synchronization mode, and Cs contouring mode, it is necessary to
tune velocity loop gain to enhance disturbance suppression performance, positioning speed and
accuracy.
There are parameters corresponding to each operation mode and to clutch/gear signal (CTH1).
The following tables show the parameters for each operation mode.
