6. SSM (Sub Module for Synchronous Spindle Motor)
In this chapter, the follows describe about SSM (Sub Module for Synchronous Spindle Motor). SSM is the
module to protect SPM from the high Back EMF when alarm etc. occurred.
6.1 Parameter for SSM

This bit must be set to “1” when SSM (Sub Module for Synchronous Spindle Motor) is used. In this case,
SPM type-B is required.
If it is not used SSM, this bit is set to “0” and it is necessary to limit No.4020 (Motor maximum speed).

This parameter decides the motor maximum speed. If it is not used SSM, this parameter must be limit to the
setting value less than the next. If neglect this limitation item, it may be destroyed SPM.

High voltage alarm level: 636 Vrms for 400V line SPM
318 Vrms for 200V line SPM
Back EMF constant Ke: unit: Vrms/1000min

Ex.) Ke (Back EMF constant) of the synchronous spindle motor is 180 (
, terminal to terminal). In
case of driving this motor by 400V line SPM, No.4020(16i) is the next value.
