Grounding the Power Mate H Motion System
The Power Mate System must be properly grounded. Many problems occur simply because this
practice is not followed. Figure 3-24 shows the proper grounding practice.

Figure 3 - 24. Power Mate System Grounding Connections
The connection to the frame ground must be made at only one place. There is a male Faston
terminal located on the bottom rear of the unit (near the mounting tab) for this purpose. The
terminal is labeled FAS1/FG on the side of the Power Mate H (see Figure 3-24).
The resistance of the system ground should be 100 ohms or less (class 3 grounding). The cable
connecting the system ground must have sufficient cross-sectional area to allow fault current to
flow to the system ground. Typically, the cross-sectional area should be equivalent to or greater
than the ac power cable supplying power to the system.
For the operator’s panel and the machine, use the ground wire in the ac power cord.
For more information, see Section I.3.7 and I.5.2 of the Power Mate H Connection Manual,
GFZ-62683EN.
This should complete the required steps in assembling the Power Mate system. You will have
more work to do when interfacing to your machine, but for now you can move on to the next step:
Turning on the Power Mate H !
