13.6 INDEX TABLE INDEXING FUNCTION
By specifying indexing positions (angles) for the indexing axis (one
arbitrary axis), the index table of the machining center can be indexed.
To command for indexing, an indexing angle is only to be specified
assigned for indexing. It is not necessary to command the exclusive M
code in order to clamp or unclamp the table and therefore programming
will become easy.
- Indexing axis and related command
The name of the index axis is selected from A, B, C, X, Y, Z, U, V, and
W, according to parameter setting. The following description assumes
that the B axis is the indexing axis.
A program command for index table indexing specifies the positioning
angle, using the number that follows B. It must be specified within a
single block. The program command can be either absolute or
incremental. The number that follows B must be an integer multiple of
a value specified in the relevant parameter.
- Table clamping and unclamping
Once an index axis command is issued, the table is unclamped by
transferring the relevant information between the CNC and PMC using
the B-axis unclamp signal (BUCLP) and the B-axis unclamp
completion signal (*BEUCL), before the start of index axis movement.
After the table is unclamped, the CNC submits the B-axis to rapid
rotation.
After the B-axis stops at the specified position, the table is clamped by
transferring the relevant information between the CNC and PMC using
the B-axis clamp signal (BCLP) and B-axis clamp completion signal
(*BECLP).
Actual table clamping is done by mechanically fastening the B-axis
using a clutch or shot pin on the PMC side.
