(4) Cable Length Design
Design the length of cables as the sum of voltage drop by K2 and K4 becomes 0.2V or less,
and the sum of voltage drop by K2 and K5 becomes 0.2V or less.
Note that voltage drop of K2 is caused by the total current consumption of Linear Motor
Position Detection Circuit C, Linear Motor Pole Sensor, and linear encoder.
[Example of calculation]
Case that HEIDENHAIN LS486C is used and 10m length cable is used for K2.
(Max. Current of HEIDENHAIN LS486C is = 150mA )
(A860-0333-T301 is used as Position Detection Circuit.)
① Voltage drop by K2 : Vd
5V,0V
Vd = ( 0.25A+0.05A+0.15A
)×{ 38.7Ω/km ÷3×(10m×2)÷1000m}
↑ ↑ ↑
Total current(max.) 0.5mm
2
(number of wire)
= 0.116V
② Maximum length of K4 : L1
L1 = ( 0.2V - 0.116V )÷ 0.05A ÷ ( 38.7 Ω/km÷2×2÷1000
)
↑
Resistance per meter
= 43.4m
③ Maximum length of K5 L2
L2 = ( 0.2V - 0.116V )÷ 0.15A ÷ ( 38.7 Ω/km
×2÷1000 )
(Note)
= 7.2m
(Note)
The resistance of standard head cable of HEIDENHAIN LS486C.
(The standard LS486C head cable has two wires of 0.25mm
2
for 5V and 0V respectively. )
When you designate the length of the standard cable equals 1m and you use the extended
cable(the diameter of 5V and 0V is twice), L2 equals 13.4m.
