PROGRAMMING2. CONTROLLED AXES

The increment system consists of the least input increment (for input ) and
least command increment (for output). The least input increment is the
least increment for programming the travel distance. The least command
increment is the least increment for moving the tool on the machine. Both
increments are represented in mm, inches, or degrees.
The increment system is classified into IS–B and IS–C (Tables 2.3(a) and
2.3(b)). Set bit 1 (ISC) of parameter No. 1004 to select which increment
system to use. The setting of bit 1 (ISC) of parameter No. 1004 is applied
to all the axes. For example, when IS–C is selected, the increment system
for all the axes is IS–C.

Whether the least command increment is measured in millimeters or
inches depends on the machine. Select either the increment in advance
according to the setting of parameter INM (No.1001#0). A G code (G20
or G21) or a setting parameter can be used to toggle the least command
increment between millimeter input and inch input.
