(Note 1) The Learning function by digital servo software enables high-precision control for the command and
the cutting disturbance that is given repeatedly at specified intervals. For example, the lead for
video cam drum, the piston or the camshaft for car engine is usually made with a conventional cam
machine using mechanical way. Learning function enables the customer’s program to replace a
conventional cam machine with a CNC machine.
(Note 2) In the servo axis allocation (No.1023), Learning axis (No.2008#5=1) must be allocated to the odd
axis (L-axis). The subsequent even axis (M-axis) can be used as the normal axis. But usually it is
strongly recommended not to allocate the axis except for a lack of axis number. If the even axis is
used, both current and velocity loop sampling for the even axis must be the same as the odd axis.
(Note 3) Learning control requires Learning series servo s/w and you should choose 90x3 or 90x7 series
based on the following criteria.
Lead Cutting Machine or Piston Lathe …………………………………….. 90A3 or 90B3
Cam Grinder or CrankShaft Grinder ………………………………………. 90A7 or 90B7
“Ultra high precision velocity feedback function” is available for 90A7 or 90B7.
(Note 4) There are some cases where Learning control requires specific servo axis card. 90Ax series and
90Bx series require the different servo card from the standard servo software 90A0 or 90B0. Refer
to Appendix 1.Notes on the order. Never use the servo software out of accord with the above
table (Table 1-1)
(Note 5) 90A7 series has a large difference from the other Learning series.
In servo card "A02B-0236-H019" for 90A7, the Learning memory size of 1
st
axis or 3
rd
axis is
different from the area of 5
th
axis. Regarding the detail, refer to 7.1 Learning memory expanded
function.
(Note 6) This series supports the Tandem control. But this function has partially different specification from
the Tandem control in standard servo series because of the premise used together with Learning
control. Regarding the detail, refer to 7.5 Tandem Learning control function.
(Note 7) The parameters described in this manual are applied only to Learning axis. The servo parameters
except for Learning axis are the same as that for general cutting tools. (This axis is called the
normal axis in this manual from now on.) But Learning series doesn’t support a part of functions for
standard series. Refer to Appendix 4. Function table for servo edition regarding the comparison
of the available function.
(Note 8) Refer to the following CNC manual.

(Ref.)
Former specification for Learning servo software have a large difference from current 90A3, 90A7,
90B3, and 90B7 series.
• High-speed axis (No.2005#4=1) must be set for High-speed interface. This axis must be allocated
to the odd axis, and the subsequent even axis isn’t available because one axis occupies one servo
CPU.
• Former series support the servo trace function. However 90A7 or 90B7 series are still available.
• Regarding High-speed axis, refer to 5.1.4 servo parameters for high-speed axis.
