4.3 Taper Cycles
By pressing icon on cycle selection screen,
taper cycle selection screen opens. Cycles use
radius compensation.
Three taper cycles are available.
- Outer Taper
- Inner Taper
- Outer Back Taper
To machine a part, position tool by means of hand
wheels or joystick in X and Z direction to cutting
start point and press start button on machine.
Tool performs one linear cut to workpiece shape,
detaches and returns back to start point. The last
cut (X coordinate of cutting start point = X min) is
executed as a finishing cut to clean the workpiece
surface.
When a cut depth value is inserted, tool
automatically moves to new start point and
executes next cut. In this way an automatic cycle
is performed. In case of automatic cycle semi
finishing and finishing cut is executed.
When cut depth is not inserted it is necessary
after each cut to move tool by means of X-hand
wheel to new cutting start point and press again
start button on machine.
Taper cycle input data
- X1: X-Coordinate Point 1
- Z1: Z-Coordinate Point 1
- X2: X-Coordinate Point 2
- Z2: Z-Coordinate Point 2
- R1: Radius at Point 1 (can be omitted)
- R2: Radius at Point 2 (can be omitted)
- R3: Radius at Point 3 (can be omitted)
- X0: Diameter for Finish Cut (can be
omitted)
- D-Cut: Cutting Depth (Radius value,
can be omitted)
- Cutting Start Point X: Teach In
- Cutting Start Point Z: Teach In
The points (X1,Z1) and (X2,Z2) are the corner
points of the shape assuming R1=0 and R2=0. If
radius data are inserted, radiuses are calculated
tangent to shape. For this reason minimum X
distance is different from X1 when R1>0 is
inserted. Negative taper angles are not allowed.

edit geometry data press on touch areas. Press
to return to main screen.

Example: Input mask of outer taper cycle.
Press to save data, press to return to
main screen without saving data.
A workpiece shape can be cut in one shot if tool is
positioned by means of hand wheel or joystick
below limit line and START button is pressed. In
such a condition a tool is first moved to minimum
position, then finish cut is directly executed.
