4.6 Radius Cutting Cycles
By pressing icon on cycle selection screen,
radius cutting cycle selection screen opens.
Cycles use radius compensation.
Following radius cutting cycles are available.
- Face Radius Convex/Concave
- Back Radius Convex/Concave
- Inner Radius Convex/Concave
The radius cutting cycle allows to machine a
radius starting at a defined point (X1, Z1), to a
defined point (X2, Z2), as well as machining a
complete half ball.
To machine a part, position tool by means of hand
wheels or joystick in X and Z direction to cutting
start point and press start button on machine.
Tool performs one linear cut to workpiece shape,
detaches and returns back to start point. The last
cut (X coordinate of cutting start point = X1) is
executed as a finishing cut to clean the workpiece
surface.
When a cut depth value is inserted, tool
automatically infeeds in –X direction and executes
next cut. In this way an automatic cycle is
performed. In case of automatic cycle semi
finishing and finishing cut is executed.
When cut depth is not inserted it is necessary
after each cut to move tool by means of X-hand
wheel to new cutting start point and press again
start button on machine.

Radius cutting cycle selection screen. To select
cycle and edit geometry data press on touch
areas. Press to return to main screen.
To machine a complete ball combine both cycles
face radius cutting + back radius cutting.
