3.3 Spindle Speed Setting
Before starting any kind of machining operation,
spindle speed must be set. (Spindle speed setting
screen is available only if machine is equipped
with frequency converter option).
The spindle speed can be set in two ways
- Rounds per Minute [rpm]
- Constant Surface Speed [mt/min] ( [ft/min] )
3.3.1 Rounds per Minute
To set spindle speed in rounds per minute press
on CSS ON/OFF touch area until CSS OFF
appears. Now insert spindle speed in S
SET
field.
By pressing SET touch area spindle speed is
activated.
Gear selection by pressing on icons for gear 1 to
4 is not necessary in case if machine is not
equipped with frequency converter.
3.3.2 Constant Surface Speed (CSS)
In constant surface speed the spindle speed is
controlled as a function of the current X position,
in order to keep the cutting speed constant. This
means that when the tool approaches the rotation
center, spindle speed increases up to a maximum
value.
To set spindle speed as constant surface speed
(CSS) press on CSS ON/OFF touch area until
CSS ON appears. Now insert cutting speed of tool
in S
CSS
field in meter per minute [mt/min]. Set
maximum allowed spindle speed in S
MAX
field in
rounds per minute [rpm] By pressing SET touch
area spindle speed is activated. Now select
corresponding gear to adjust spindle speed
according mechanic transmission.
Press on spindle speed display of main screen to
open spindle speed setting screen.
Spindle speed RPM setting screen. Press to
set spindle speed, press to return to main
screen.
Spindle speed CSS setting screen. Press to
set spindle speed, press to return to main
screen.
Principe of constant surface speed
The CNC and the machine tool must be prepared by
the machine tool builder for spindle speed functions
