Power Failure Backup Module
Descriptions
A-53866E-464
(1) The power failure backup module (200V input type) is used in combination with
α/αi series amplifiers
(excluding
αSVU series and PSMR amplifiers). The power failure backup module cannot be connected
to
β/βi series amplifiers. If you wish to apply the machine protection function at power failure to a
system containing
β/βi series amplifiers, you must back up the β/βi series amplifiers with an
uninterruptible power supply (UPS).
(2) If you use more than one PSM, you need one power failure backup module for each PSM.
(3) Sub module C and the supplement capacitor unit are required to use the retract function at power failure.
Connect as many sub modules C as are necessary according to the configuration of the machine. See
Section 8.2 for an explanation of the number of sub modules C to be connected. The number of
supplement capacitor units to be connected is always one.
(4) Sub module R is required to use the stop distance reduction function at power failure. Connect as
many sub modules R as are necessary according to the configuration of the machine. See Section 8.1
for an explanation of the number of sub modules R to be connected.
(5) If connecting the power failure backup module to an
α series amplifier, you must always use the
specialized PSM (with #BM specified). See Subsection 2.2.5 for an explanation of the specification
method.
(6) If connecting the power failure backup module to an
αi series amplifier, you can use a standard PSM.
Depending on the number of amplifiers connected, you must supply external control power (24 VDC) to
some of the amplifiers. See Chapter 9 for details.
(7) After a power failure occurs, DC link voltage (direct-current voltage) is supplied to the power inputs of
those devices to which control power is supplied via the power failure backup module. Devices that can
be backed up with control power from the power failure backup module are limited to those that allow
direct-current voltage to be supplied to their power inputs.
