Handling of the emergency stop contact (CX4) of the PSM
The emergency stop contact (CX4) of the PSM must be maintained in the closed state until the brake
starts to operate.
If the emergency stop contact (CX4) of the PSM is opened before the brake starts to operate, motor
excitation will be turned off, so that a vertical axis drop cannot be prevented.
For the
αi series amplifier, you can extend the period from the time the emergency stop contact (CX4)
of the PSM is opened until motor excitation is turned off.

OTE
1. Even if the gravity-axis drop prevention function at power failure operates normally, there will be
drop corresponding to the backlash of the brake (up to 20 µm for a ball screw pitch of 10 mm). I
the drop corresponding to the backlash presents a problem, you can cause pull-up along the vertical
axis by the backslash or greater at a stop, by using the lifting function against gravity at emergenc
stop (for the αi series amplifier only). Referring to the Parameter Manual B-65270EN, set the
parameters for the lifting function against gravity at emergency stop. The amount of pull-up is
very short distance corresponding to the backlash of the brake (about 100 µm) and, therefore, sub
module C is not required.
2. If you use an
αi series amplifier and six or less controlled axes, you can achieve the same function
as the gravity-axis drop prevention function at power failure without the power failure backup
module. For details, refer to the Specifications A-65282/05EN-03.
