10. OPERATION CHECKS
10.1 RETRACT FUNCTION AT POWER FAILURE
This section describes how to check operation if you apply the Retract function at power
failure to a gear cutting machine.
(1) Sequence check
Check that in the idle state, turning off the main breaker of the power magnetics
cabinet (for a dummy power failure) causes retract operation to be performed.
(2) Check of retract operation during cutting
Check that during retraction, synchronization is maintained to the level at which
the workpiece and the tool are not damaged. During synchronous cutting, use the check
method described below to turn off the main breaker of the power magnetics cabinet
(for a dummy power failure) and observe the following waveforms on an oscilloscope:
Waveforms to observe: Retract axis TSA (on the servo check board).
DC link voltage (on the spindle check board).
Workpiece axis VCMD (on the servo check board).
For the retract operation check, do not start with the maximum cutting load so as
not to damage the workpiece and the tool, but start with light load and gradually
increase the cutting load. The amount of energy stored in sub module C depends on
the PSM input voltage before a power failure occurs. Perform the operation check with
the lowest conceivable PSM input voltage.
