6. FUNCTIONS
6.1 FUNCTION DESCRIPTION
The power failure backup module performs the following controls:
(1) Power failure detection
Detects a power failure and outputs a power failure detection signal. In response to this signal,
perform ladder processing that starts actions for machine protection (such as retract operation and
feed axis stop operation). Power failures on the following three paths can be detected. If a power
failure is detected on one of the three paths, the power control necessary for motor control (control
described in (3) in Section 6.1 and (4) in Section 6.1) is started.
Path 1
: Detects a voltage drop in the three-phase power input to connector CX12 or CX26.
Detection delay time is provided to prevent misdetection due to an instantaneous voltage
drop. Detection delay time can be set in the range of 0 msec to 15 msec, and is set to 7
msec before shipment from the factory.
Path 2
: Detects a DC link voltage drop due to a power failure.
By connecting pin A3 of connector CX16 to 24 V, you can nullify the detection of a
power failure in the DC link voltage. (See Section 6.6.)
Path 3
: Detects an external power failure signal input to connector CX15.
When 24 V is input to EXPFL of CX15, it is assumed that a power failure is detected. If
not using this path, leave EXPFL open.
