Power Failure Backup Module
Descriptions
A-53866E-464
(7) After a power failure occurs, 300 VDC is supplied to the power inputs of those devices to which control
power is supplied via the power failure backup module. Devices that can be backed up with control
power from the power failure backup module are limited to those that allow direct-current voltage to be
supplied to their power inputs.
2.1.3 Required Modules
The modules required for each of the machine protection function at power failure (1) to (3) are as given in
the table below.
(1) Retract function at power failure
(2) Stop distance reduction function at power failure
(3) Gravity-axis drop prevention function at power failure

OTE
1. If you use an
αi series amplifier and six or less controlled axes, you can prevent gravity axis drops
without the power failure backup module, by providing an external power failure detector (or a rela
as a substitute). For details, refer to the Specifications A-65282EN/05-03, " Prevention of Gravit
Axis Drop at Power Failure in αi series servo system ".
2. If you wish to decelerate to a stop a linear motor, a synchronous built-in motor, or a motor for use in
large-inertia and low-speed rotation in the event of a power failure, both sub module C and the
supplement capacitor unit are required.
