CANNED GRINDING CYCLE
(FOR GRINDING MACHINE)
Explanations
The continuous-feed surface grinding cycle consists of four operation sequences.
Operations (1) to (4) are repeated until the depth reaches the total depth of cut specified with
address K. In the single block stop mode, operations (1) to (4) are performed at a time by one
cycle start.
• Operation sequences in the cycle
(1) Dwell
Dwell is performed for the time specified by P.
(2) Grinding wheel cutting and grinding
The cutting axis (Z axis) and the grinding axis are operated in cutting feed at the same time.
The movement (depth of cut) of the cutting axis is the amount specified by I (depth of cut 1),
and the movement of the grinding axis is the amount specified by α. The grinding axis is
selected by the parameter No.5178. The feedrate is specified by F. When address L is
specified while the continuous dressing function is valid, dressing is performed by the cutting
axis and the dressing axis. The dressing axis is selected by the parameter No.5182.
(3) Dwell
Dwell is performed for the time specified by P.
(4) Grinding wheel cutting and grinding (return direction)
The cutting axis (Z axis) and the grinding axis are operated in cutting feed at the same time.
The movement (depth of cut) of the cutting axis is the amount specified by J (depth of cut 2),
and the movement of the grinding axis is the reverse direction to the amount specified by α.
The feedrate is specified by F. When address L is specified while the continuous dressing is
function valid, dressing is performed by the cutting axis and the dressing axis.
• Continuous dressing
When the continuous dressing function is valid and during grinding, grinding wheel cutting
and dresser cutting are compensated continuously according to the dressing amount specified
by L. For the details, refer to the explanations of G75.
